Arizona Science Outreach

(K-4th)

Students are introduced to fascinating ideas of light, reflection, symmetry and more in an environment of experimentation. Then, they put these principles into practice as they build their own take-home kaleidoscope step by step!

Hands-on Workshops

Kaleidoscope of Colors (K to 5th) : Kids build their own take-home kaleidoscope step-by-step as they learn about the principles that apply to this wonderful and versatile toy. The final moments of assembly are always a crowd pleaser!

Symmetry Station (K to 5th) : Students are introduced to basic concepts of symmetry using a variety of mirror interactives and images. Special attention is paid to how symmetry occurs in the natural world. A great way to add a mathematical component to your program!

Bouncing Light (2nd to 5th) : Kids will have a fascinating experience as they are challenged to manipulate light beams that are as bouncy as a rubber ball! They'll also learn how this technique is applied to everyday objects and scientific experimentation.

Note that a one hour workshop program will include elements from each of these hands-on activities.
